Beyond Race

Cash4Gold used a unique secret weapon to help raise awareness for disaster relief efforts in the Phillipines, American Samoa and Indonesia and to help drive charity donations from consumers.  Cash4Gold celebrity spokesman MC Hammer reached out to his more than 1.5 million followers on Twitter to help raise money for a hunger relief charity called Feed The Children.  The three-time Grammy Award-winning hip hop legend has a long-standing tradition of working with Cash4Gold on charitable campaigns.

This Beyond Race story points out that MC Hammer was featured in the company’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial which aired on February 1, 2009, and received much acclaim from critics.

When Cash4Gold employees and MC Hammer caught wind of the horrific events they immediately decided they would make a donation and spread the word via the press and Twitter that it was important for Americans to pitch in and help.

Included below is a full story from Beyond Race touching on the charitable efforts.  The original story can be found here.

MC Hammer Calls on Twitter, Cash4Gold for Charity Donations

MC Hammer’s back. But instead of Hammertime and the flashy dance moves (and trademark pants!), the hip-hop icon is encouraging a different kind of movement.

In wake of the natural disasters and subsequent widespread flooding in the Philippines, American Samoa and Indonesia, MC Hammer is assembling the support of his 1,500,000 Twitter followers as well as longtime friends at Cash4Gold, the mail-in gold buyer, to donate to hunger relief organization Feed the Children. The late ’80s sensation and three-time Grammy winner was particularly moved by the tragedies, which have claimed over 300 lives and displaced millions, and was quick to call upon both his online and business friends to chip in.

“Thousands of people here at home and abroad are facing a very difficult time, which is why I’m urging everyone to support Feed the Children, a tremendous organization helping to get these victims back on their feet,” he said.

He and Cash4Gold have partnered up before when he was featured in a Super Bowl ad earlier in the year. Both also have a history of charity work with Feed the Children, having personally given out meals to hungry and recession-stricken victims in Stockton, California. The 30-year-old nonprofit organization not only provides food, but medicine and clothing to those in need around the world.
